~STUDENT STORE~
This Friday we are going to open the student store at the movie, What A Night, by the drama class. Also, this week we have been working on our Civics Standards and English Standards since the first quarter is almost here. The silkscreen project has been put on hold since we don't have money to buy a press. So we've decided to try to figure out a way for us to make our own press.

~STUDENT STORE UPDATES~
This week we opened the student store three times. Currently, we are trying to sell all of the merchandise of the store. We have almost made enough money to pay off the loan we got to buy all of the student store merchandise. We are trying to get another loan for the silk screen. We have decided to try to make our own press since the actual press is pricey. We can't start making the t-shirts until we get or make a press. Also, I have been working on English and Econ standards for the blog. Next week, we hope to get more information about receiving the loan to make the silk screen, so we can start making and selling t-shirts.

~STUDENT STORE~
Right now, we are making designs for the t-shirts. The difficult part about it is finding a way to actually purchase the stencil and the press. Mr.Acevedo, the learning director from Caruthers, told us that we would need to purchase a press in order to start making the t-shirts. We are still opening the student store after school. This week Patty had us count all the money in the cash box and record how much cents and dollar bills we had. Currently, we are trying to sell all of the merchandise in the student store. Next week, I am planning to work on English and Economic standards.

~STUDENT STORE UPDATES~
Lately, we've been working on selling the student store merchandise. Opening the student store after-school has been going okay, just because most of the students are gone after-school. We sell a good amount of merchandise, but we still have alot more to sell. Also, we've been working on making t-shirts, so we can sell them during school hours. Mrs. Dewey gave us the number to Mr. Acevedo, who is the learning director at Caruthers High. We were hoping we would be able to borrow the silk screen machine, but we called Mr. Acevedo and he told us that he is not able to loan it to us. The thing he can do is let us go over to Caruthers High and make the t-shirts there. He was very polite and helpful. Now we are just setting up everything so we can start making the t-shirts.

~STUDENT STORE~
This week we worked on improving the student store's appearance. We fixed the shelves by putting colored paper on them and we also stocked the shelves on the left door. Another thing, we did was we painted the right door with chalk paint to create a chalk board. This way we can write the student store prices and other things on the chalk board. It also adds a cool factor to the student store. This whole week we have been opening the student store after school. Hopefully, this will help us sell all of the merchandise quickly. Next week, we are planning on trying to borrow the silk screen from Caruthers. Hopefully, we are able to make the t-shirts before basketball senior night.

~ENGLISH STANDARDS~

(W) 3. E. Provide a conclusion that follows form and reflects on what is experienced, observed, or resolved over the course of the narrative.

In my cover letter I had to provide a strong conclusion. The conclusion I wrote consisted of my home phone number and email. It also had two concluding sentences. The first sentence said thanks to the company for taking the time to look at my application. The second sentence said that they can refer back to my application and resume for more information. My concluding sentence reflects on what was observed and resolved over the course of the narrative. Overall, my cover letter was informative and professional.
~ENGLISH STANDARDS~

(W) 3. D. Use precise words and phrases, telling details, and sensory language to convey a vivid picture of the experiences, events, setting, and/or characters.

A poem, I wrote my creative writing final, was named "Just Another Face." The poem was about how we see new faces each day, but we should not judge these faces. Many people tend to judge others by their image, when they don't even know the person. In order, for my message to be clear I had to use descriptive language and many details. I had to put many details to the character's actions and feelings. The tone of my poem was realistic and it made you think. In my opinion, I was able to explain the theme I was going for. In order, for me to accomplish this I conveyed a vivid picture of the setting and events. My Poem, "Just Another Face," teaches you not to judge someone by their appearance. You have to get to know the person before being judgmental.
